North America's biggest rib and beer festival is taking over a Toronto park this weekend

Get those wet wipes out and prepare for a saucy weekend, because the Northern Heat Rib Series — the biggest rib and beer tour in North America — is about to kick off its Toronto summer season with a huge festival this weekend.

Could there be a more perfect way to celebrate Father's Day than with pitmasters and breweries as far as the eye can see? Heck, even if you're not celebrating the holiday, it sounds like a mighty fine way to spend a sunny June weekend.

While Toronto hosts its fair share of ribfests over the course of the summer, there are none quite as popular and wide-spanning than those held by Northern Heat, who are putting on a total of 16 festivals across Ontario this spring and summer.

For Toronto's part, it all kicks off with the Beaches Ribfest, which lands in Woodbine Park this Friday, June 13.

While the festival's lineup of some of Ontario's top barbecue vendors is certainly the star of the show, there will also be plenty of other options to fulfill your cravings, from Caribbean cuisine to Korean corn dogs and everything in between.

This year, Molson is heading up the event as an official sponsor, so you'll be able to wash it all down with a selection of Molson products on top of a selection of wine, spirits and coolers in the beer garden.

While you sink your teeth into your barbecued treats, you'll also be serenaded with non-stop live music from a lineup of local talent, including tributes to AC/DC and Pearl Jam.

The festival runs from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 and 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 15. Admission costs just a toonie ($2), and all proceeds are donated to the Toronto Beaches Lions Club.

If you miss this one, or if you just love it so much you don't want it to end, you can also get excited for the Downtown Toronto Ribfest in Sankofa Square on July 11.
