Canada has just dropped a shiny new gold coin, and although it has a face value of $500, you'll have to pay way more to get your hands on one.
The Royal Canadian Mint announced the brand-new Heart Diamond — Pure Gold Diamond Shaped Coin. The coin is the latest addition to a series of coins first released in 2020 and is made with 99.99 per cent pure gold.
The coin is far from your average design — it's heart-shaped, three-dimensional, and shaped like a diamond. The largest facet features an effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.

"The fifth and final diamond shape in this show-stopping series is truly a labour of love, for the heart-cut shape is one of the most difficult and complex shapes to achieve," reads the description.
And if that's not precious enough, it's also set with a sparkling 0.23 carat ideal-cut heart diamond that has been graded by the De Beers Institute of Diamonds. The coin measures 30.1 mm in length, 32 mm in width, and 19.8 mm in height.

Despite weighing in at just 145.4 g, it comes with a hefty price tag. Although it has a face value of $500, it currently retails for an astounding $29,249.95. Can't quite justify spending nearly $30,000 coin in one go? The Mint does have a six-month payment plan.
Serious coin collectors will have to act fast, though, as only 150 of these coins will be available worldwide.
There is a more affordable option.

The Heart Diamond – Fine Silver Diamond-Shaped Coin is nearly identical to the gold coin in every way, except it's made with 99.99 per cent pure silver and has a face value of $50. And just like the gold version, it's set with a 0.23 carat Ideal Cut Heart Diamond.
This coin retails for $1,799.95, and 600 of these coins will be available for purchase.
Both coins will be shipped on June 12, and each one is presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a black beauty box.
