Former Toronto Raptor Pascal Siakam going viral for tense interview

Former Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam found himself at the centre of a viral interaction with a reporter on Thursday evening.

With Siakam's Indiana Pacers one game away from potentially advancing to the NBA Finals, they fell quite short in a 111-94 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Siakam told the media that he felt that the Knicks outworked the Pacers in the win, particularly with their season on the line.

Indianapolis Star writer Gregg Doyel pushed back at Siakam for the statement, leading to the now-viral interaction.

"How is that possible?" Doyel asked the former Raptors star.

"What do you mean?" Siakam said.

"How is it possible to not play hard enough in Game 5?" Doyel asked again.

"What are you talking about? They played harder than us. It's okay. We played hard. They played harder. What's your point? I don't get it," Siakam answered.

"My point is you're saying you guys got outfought…," Doyel said.

"That happens in a game, though. That's basketball," said Siakam.

"In Game 5 of the NBA playoffs?" Doyel asked.

"You good? You good, bro? You're looking for something I know, but damn. No, no, but I'm telling you, though. I told you. What else do you want me to tell you?" Siakam said in the touchiest moment of the clip.

"I want you to tell me how. That's all I'm asking," Doyel retorted.

If you think you remember Doyel's name from a previous awkward interaction, you're probably right. In a 2024 press conference with WNBA star Caitlin Clark, Doyel suggested that the Indiana Fever guard should make her signature "heart hands" gesture at him, and they'd "get along just fine."

Doyel was later suspended by the Star for two weeks for the comments and barred from covering the Fever for the rest of the 2024 season.

The Pacers still hold a 3-2 series lead, with a chance to make the Finals with a win in either Saturday's Game 6 at home or a potential Game 7 back in New York on Monday.
