If popular local balmy-weather destinations like Sauble Beach, Wasaga and Saugeen Shores are on your summer 2025 bucket list, a coach company known for its cheap routes around Ontario (and the world) has got your back.
FlixBus has just announced a special seasonal extension of its existing Toronto-Owen Sound bus for the warmer months, which will bring passengers from downtown Toronto to a handful of new places ideal for a day trip or weekend getaway.
New stops include the aforementioned Sauble Beach, along with Southampton and Port Elgin, with trips operating daily, all seven days of the week, from Toronto Union Station Bus Terminal and the airport.
Also along the route are locales like Barrie, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Blue Mountain Village, Thornbury and the Bruce Peninsula.
Along with giving people a safe, cheap, and sustainable travel option to these areas, the route will also help boost local tourism in a time when people are avoiding U.S. travel and seeking more local vacation spots instead.
Long popular in Europe, FlixBus only just launched in Canada in 2022 after buying out Greyhound, but has already put itself on the map with shuttles from T.O. to ski resorts like Horseshoe Valley, attractions like Niagara Falls, and a route to New York City that costs less than the typical cab just to get to Toronto Pearson airport.
Its Owen Sound offering was just added last year for city-dwellers interested in an easy way to get out and explore the waterfalls, camping and lush nature offered further north. There is also a Sudbury route that connects to places like Parry Sound and Port Severn to help you see more of our stunning province.
FlixBus's Owen Sound extension launched on May 15, with round-trip tickets as cheap as $16.99 per direction.
