Toronto just officially bid farewell to one of its fanciest restaurants located in a mall.
Beaumont Kitchen, the upscale restaurant nestled next to Saks Fifth Avenue at Sherway Gardens, has shuttered its doors following the department store's shutdown.
The closure marks the end of a nearly decade-long run that brought elegant California-meets-global cuisine to Etobicoke.
The restaurant, part of the Oliver & Bonacini restaurant group, first opened its doors in 2016 with over 5,000 square feet of sleek dining space. It quickly became known for its global menu, which drew inspiration from California and Mexico, as well as Middle Eastern and Italian cuisines.
Lunchtime featured light salads and bright small plates, while dinner options leaned hearty with steak, pasta and, of course, their signature thin-crust pizzas.
The restaurant announced its closure on Instagram, prompting a flood of heartfelt comments from loyal patrons.
"I was afraid this would happen, very sad indeed. This was one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Toronto. You will be sorely missed," one user wrote. Another echoed the sentiment, writing, "So very sad to see you go. Thank you for all the lovely memories and meals."
Beaumont Kitchen's closure comes in the wake of Saks With Avenue's exit from Sherway Gardens, which is part of a broader wind-down by the Hudson's Bay Company.
The retailer, which operates three Saks Fifth Avenue and 13 Saks Off Fifth stores in Canada, is under creditor protection as of March, and is also closing 80 Hudson's Bay stores across the country.
While Saks locations are expected to operate until June 15, 2025, some, like the Sherway Gardens branch, are already shutting down.
For those left holding onto Beaumont Kitchen gift cards, the good news is that they never expire and can still be used at any other Oliver & Bonacini restaurant.
