One of Toronto's best breakfast sandwich shops is expanding to a new neighbourhood

The folks behind one of Toronto's best breakfast sandwiches are giving more of the city's residents the chance to see what all the hype is about as they prepare to open a new location in the city.

What began as a collaboration between Reunion Coffee Roasters and The Federal in 2018 has taken on a life of its own in the seven years since, and now, there's no denying that Roncesvalles Village's Gold Standard lives up to the name.

Particularly lauded for their titular Gold Standard breakfast sandwich, which comes topped with bacon, kale or vegan sausage, cheesy eggs, aioli and pickles on an English Muffin, the cheeky sandwich window is a staple for residents of Toronto's west side looking to break their fast.

It's even a favourite of Arkells' Max Kerman — and what could be a more truly Toronto endorsement than that?

They later expanded with a location in Parkdale (this time one where people could actually enter), and this month they're taking on an entirely new neighbourhood with their third location.

Soft-opening on June 4 before an official opening on June 11, Gold Standard is now at the Harbourfront, taking over a space at the Food Lab, or Galley, which features a rotating selection of the city's hottest eateries.

While the breakfast sandwiches at Gold Standard certainly tend to steal the show, that's not all you'll be able to sink your teeth into at their new location (or any of their pre-existing ones, for that matter).

You can also opt for their equally iconic Detroit-style Telway Burger, breakfast burrito or Cubano, and they've even teased a Caesar Salad wrap. In fact, you could go to Gold Standard for all three meals of the day, which we might just do.

You can visit Gold Standard's newest location at 235 Queens Quay W., as well as their other brick-and-mortars at 1574 Queen St. W. and 385 Roncesvalles Ave.
